Profile - Dr Peter Pedersen
Graduated in 1977 from the Sydney College (Now a part of Macquarie University) with both Doctor of Osteopathy and Doctor of Chiropractic. The Sydney College celebrates 50 years in 2009!
Studied with Tom Bowen in 1975. Not so much study with...I just stood by and watched him work. (There is no "Bowen Technique", he was a gifted and intuitive healer! With really strong hands!)
Studied Herbal Medicine with Australia's greatest intuitive herbalist, Dorothy Hall (1979).
Studied Acupuncture with Tennison (nothing is too much trouble) Yui (1978).
Studied Orthomolecular Nutrition with (20 years before his time) Dr William Vayda (1978 - 82).
Studied Traditional Chinese Medicine with Dr Shun Wah Lee (1981-84). The famous Shun Wah Lee, from Hong Kong! Actually worked with him in my Surfers' Paradise practice. What a privilege.
Studied Herbal Medicine with (the walking encyclopaedia) Dennis Stewart (1983). Also famous.
Studied Tai Chi Chuan/Shao Men with Arthur Ghan (1980-86). Not famous.
Post-graduate Applied Kinesiology, Homoeopathy, Laser Therapeutics, Craniopathy, Paediatric and Juvenile Procedures, Sports and Exercise Physiology, Cosmetic Acupuncture, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Buteyko Breathing Reconditioning,
Founder of the Academy of Natural Therapies (1980) Absolutely had to! There were no decent colleges in the region. The Academy was sold to T.A.F.E. in the 90's and is still providing education and qualifications in natural therapies. But I wouldn't recommend the school these days.
Founder & Principal of the Australian Institute of Myotherapy (1985) Once again, had to as nobody was teaching myotherapy properly! The only other practitioner of Myotherapy in South-east Qld was Craig Berry (not the singer) who went on to establish the first diagnostic thermal imaging service in Qld. Still practicing myotherapy and without a doubt...the best Myotherapist in the country.
Member of the Chiropractors' & Osteopaths' College of Australasia (COCA). Certified Practicing Member (CPM) since 2006.
Launched "Qi beauty" in 2006 (as seen on A Current Affair).
After 20 years of trial and error with cosmetic acupuncture, first with needles, then laser, then intense light frequencies, then back to laser, various electric stimulation protocols and then back to needles, we (Kathy and Peter Pedersen) have created a skin rejuvenation process based on acupuncture principles for increasing Qi energy flow (but without needles). This is painlessly achieved with tiny gold plated, magnetic spheres of a specific gauss, on a specific combination of facial points, to achieve incredible regeneration of the skin though the stimulation of Qi circulation.
Using the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge of Qi, we are able to explain that by increasing Qi we stimulate vital energy and the body repairs itself. The western orthodox medical explanation for the results obtained by Qi Beauty is not as poetic as the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) explanation, but it explains what is happening to cause the changes. The application of the specific strength magnets on the specific acupuncture points causes an immediate alteration in the alignment of the cells in the lipid layer deep to the statum corneum. The magnetic field effectively causes a change in the permeability of these tissues and hydration ensues as a result of interstitial fluid perfusion. The results are visible immediately and best of all the process is totally natural, non-invasive, no chemicals or side effects.
You must remember, skin is dead...creams, lotions and extracts topically applied (put onto the skin) just sit on the skin. No "moisturizing", no "regeneration", no "anti-ageing", because...the skin is dead. Stone dead. It does not absorb and renew and unwrinkle. It can't 'cause it is dead!
The claim that we make is that the Qi Beauty procedures stimulate hydration and regeneration from within.
It is a world's first and it has taken over 20 years to perfect and we did it here in Australia. Please visit <www.qibeauty.com.au>
Ross River Fever
Peter Pedersen contracted Ross River Fever sometime in late 2003 or early 2004 (he just thought he was a bit old and tired) and he was forced to quit practice in October 2006 after whinging about sore muscles and stiffness in all the wrong places. He was finally dragged kicking and screaming from rooms, much to the relief of long suffering staff who were sick of listening to him complaining. He spent 4 months in bed, sleeping 20 hours a day and barely whimpering. Over the next fifteen months he experienced random and varying symptoms of joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, indigestion, reflux, confusion, impotence, depression (well...yeah!), loss of memory, reduced cognition, clumsiness and repeated sickness (colds, gastric, throat infections).
Sleep Apnoea
The funny thing was, Ross River Fever wasn't the cause. It was the trigger and it was the cause of the initial symptoms but the actual problem was eventually diagnosed as sleep apnoea. It took 18 months to get that diagnosis because the medical profession is generally ignorant of sleep apnoea and would prefer to compartmentalise disease into convenient "specialties" which are not only perceived as unrelated, but are essentailly non-communicative. Hey, seven medical specialists gave it their best...arthritis, tendonitis, gout, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, hiatus hernia, gastritis or G.O.R.D. or esophagitis, thyrotoxic something or other...The sleep apnoea was helped by a machine called "CPAP" (Continuous Positive Air Pressure).
Candida Albicans
The funny thing was, Sleep Apnoea wasn't the cause. It was a consequence.
